Not only are electric vehicles great for the environment and the way forward, but you can also get some financial help with the cost of installing a charging point from the government. Under the OLEV EVHS Grant, you can claim up to £500 for the cost of purchasing and installing a home charging point from the UK government.
The scheme is operated by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and is called the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS). It is available for most electric cars as well as for plug-in hybrid vehicles. You can claim one chargepoint per eligible vehicle and two per household. There’s even an additional grant up to £300 for Scottish drivers available through the Energy Savings Trust Scotland.
There are a few qualifying points. You need to have off-street parking and use an OLEV-approved chargepoint, which ours are. You need to have the installation not more than four months after the delivery date of the vehicle. All full battery electric vehicles are eligible and plug-in hybrids also qualify if they are below 75g/km.
To claim the grant, simply let us know while you are placing your order and we can go through a few extra questions to make the claim for you. We can also help Scottish customers with the extra Energy Savings Trust Scotland top-up grand during installation as well.
